Born December 10, 1922, in Brooklyn, New York, Gil Meyerowitz recently passed away at the age of 100 after a lifetime dedicated to his country, the plumbing industry history, and his cherished family. 

Gil's journey into the plumbing supply industry began with his father, Michael Meyerowitz, who established M. Meyerowitz & Sons in 1917. As a young boy, Gil learned the business by working alongside his father. In his senior year of high school, Gil faced a life-threatening health scare when his appendix burst, prompting him to work full-time with his dad and older brother Gus at Meyerowitz & Sons. 

When World War II erupted, Gil and his brother enlisted while their father managed the business. Tragically, Michael and Gus both passed away during this time, leaving Gil to uphold the family business legacy on his own. Undeterred by the challenges, Gil rose to the occasion, renaming the company Gil Meyerowitz Incorporated Supplies, and building it into a legacy that has spanned four generations of family members. His vision, hard work, and determination laid the groundwork for the success his family enjoys today. 

Gil was immensely proud of all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In a video made about the company, he remarked, "Usually in a family business, the second generation screws it up and the third generation abolishes it because they think they are entitled. My business is now in its fourth generation and these kids are working as hard as we did and have brought the company to such an unbelievable place." Gil's only wish was to show his father how the business has flourished. 

Everyone who knew Gil loved him, as evidenced by the overwhelming attendance at his funeral, even on Easter Sunday. Many shared stories of how Gil helped them in times of need and how he conducted business on a handshake. He firmly believed in trust and loyalty, and his relationships with employees and customers were built on these principles. 

Gil Meyerowitz was a man of many accomplishments; however, with two children, four grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren, his greatest source of pride remained his family.
